Super Smash Bros for Wii U has embraced the concept of DLC and I must say they have not disappointed thus far. We got Mewtwo, Roy, Lucas, and Ryu added to the lineup along with various Mii Fighter costumes and stages. With the addition of the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, which allows players a vote for who they would like added, the possibilities seem endless.
For my small list, I’m am sticking to pure video game characters, not TV show or movie characters like Naruto or Goku. I am also going to try to be realistic in which characters I choose, ensuring that the character could work in the game. Here we go!
Wolf Link & Midna – Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Twilight Princess is arguably one of the best Zelda games to come out. As one of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises and the franchise with possibly the most dedicated fans, another Zelda character wouldn’t be going overboard. With having Midna ride Wolf Link like she does in the game, a move set could easily be created using a combination of wolf attacks and Midna attacks. I would have the final smash focus more on Midna transforming to her true form and doing some serious damage or Midna could transform to that huge multi-armed monster thing she transforms to before taking her true form.
I’ve personally never had the privilege of playing this game (cut me some slack I didn’t have a N64!) but I know that this game has a HUGE following. This game recently was re-released in the Rare Replay for Xbox One this year if you wanted to try it out. I also wanted to include a character on my list that wasn’t a Nintendo property. I think it is so much more special when a character from outside of Nintendo is added. The addition of characters such as Pac-Man, Sonic, Ryu, and Mega Man have added so much depth to the game. The only thing that poses a challenge for Nintendo is making sure the move set is different enough from Duck Hunt.
Inkling – Splatoon
Splatoon is Nintendo’s new game for Wii U and it has quickly become so popular, especially in Japan. This twist on a shooter game takes the concept and flips it on its head. The idea of shooting paint and swimming as a squid to fill up your paint is so original and creative. The move set for this characters would be great. Nintendo could incorporate all the different weapons from Splatoon such as the various guns and rollers. I personally would want the roller to be the forward smash move. The final smash could be one of the specials such as the InkStrike or the Rain Maker weapon. One of the challenges for this character would be figuring out how to make the squid ability work with the game, but it could be amazing!
Honorable Mention: Shovel Knight, Waluigi, Master Chief
Let us know what you think? Who do you want added to Super Smash Bros 4?
