Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo is Short But Sweet

Immediately after the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, the Platinum Demo for the game was made available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. I had the opportunity to play through the Xbox One version and loved what little was made available. Here are some impressions of the demo.

First off, I was surprised at how good this game looks on the Xbox One. Many people were worried about how this game would look compared to the PlayStation 4’s superior hardware. While I thought this game looked amazing, I am curious to see how it looks on the PS4. I felt the game ran fairly well, with very smooth gameplay. Although some load times are longer than I would have liked. The game takes players through a variety of environments, with players starting off in the mountains. After progressing from this area, you’re moved into a house, only you’re shrunk down to about six inches. The final part of the demo takes players to a town, where there is an eventual boss fight.

Most of the game I played as young Noctis equipped with a toy sword and rubber hammer, which were adequate to defeat the low level enemies. The demo features a live-action battle system, not the turn-based battle system like in other Final Fantasy titles. It was a lot of fun fighting these enemies, even though it was no challenge at all. Eventually in the town, you’re confronted with a boss, “Iron Giant,” which at this point triggers you to turn into adult Noctis. As adult Noctis, you have a couple upgraded swords and a fire spell. After beating the boss, I found that by walking onto the farthest circular platform, you’re able to play against the boss again and again. This is a really nice feature. ‘

I definitely recommend trying out the Platinum Demo for Final Fantasy XV. You’ll definitely want to buy the main game after you play this demo! I thought it was really funny that the game asks you if you want to purchase the full game immediately after you beat the demo. Go download this game if you have a PS4 or an Xbox One. The demo is free so it can’t hurt to play it.
