‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ – First Images of Harry, Ginny & Albus Potter

Harry Potter is back! Not on the big screen (yet?), but back on the big stage. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a stage play that is written by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany & Jack Thorne. Rowling, of course, is the creator of the Harry Potter book series and entire universe. Tiffany is a Tony Award-winning director of Once, and Thorne was the playwright on Let the Right One InTiffany and Thorne will be directing the show when it begins a preview run on June 7th and later officially opens in July of this year.

Cursed Child is going to be about Harry and Ginny’s son, Albus, entering Hogwarts and handling the legacy that his father and friends left on the school. Rowling will not give much else about the play because she wants to avoid spoiling the story. She seems very excited about this new adventure in the series, and it’s easy to assume that Potter fans everywhere are excited to see Rowling spreading the universe around various forms of entertainment. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is due out November 18, 2016, which will be the first big screen adventure into the Wizarding World since 2011 when the 8-part movie series came to a close.

Today we got our first look, from Pottermore, of the 3 main (presumably) characters from the newest addition to the Harry Potter series. We got photos of Harry, Ginny and their son, Albus.

Cursed Child will have a script published in the style of a book, which will be released July 31, 2016. Giving enough time for the play to come out and allow goers to not have the play spoiled. Rowling has had a big role in the development of the play, which is possibly some of the best news we could hear. She is ultra-diligent when it comes to anything dealing with Harry Potter, and is certainly committed to giving her fans and HP fans the best experience possible. If you haven’t followed her on Twitter then you absolutely should, you can find her @jk_rowling.

Whether or not Cursed Child is going to be made into a film is uncertain, but we shouldn’t worry about that right now. We’re getting more movies that are set within the world of Harry Potter, and now we are getting plays within that same world. Let’s just be thankful that our adventures into that world did not come to an end in 2011.

We’re super excited about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – are you? Let us know on Twitter @CinemaShelf or email us CinemaShelf@gmail.com

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child comes out in book form on July 31st and begins preview showings June 7, 2016 at The Palace Theatre in London.
