It’s official: Indiana Jones is returning to the big screen on July 19, 2019. This news comes off the heels of Harrison Ford’s final appearance in the Star Wars universe.
Unsurprisingly, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg will both be returning to the classic franchise. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the feature.
This news has been a long time coming, considering that Disney/Lucasfilm executives have been saying that the Indiana Jones franchise will return. Hopefully it returns with better results than the last addition to the franchise. No word yet on whether George Lucas will be advising on Indiana’s return to the silver screen, but our guess is that he will be sitting this one out.
Here’s what Disney had to say:
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
