Suicide Squad – Rumored Reshoots

Suicide Squad will most likely be another dark addition to the new(ish) DC cinematic universe. At least, that’s what we all thought, given that David Ayer (Fury) is directing this film we kind of knew that this wouldn’t be an upbeat film. It seems that Suicide Squad was going to possibly be one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year. It felt like a more ambitious movie than a title like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (BVS), which may be because of the all-villain aspect the movie presents.

According to a report from BMDSuicide Squad is about to begin what is being described as “tens of millions of dollars” worth of reshoots. This is some pretty big news considering that BMD also claims that all of the jokes seen in the amazing trailer that features a Queen song, may end up being all of the jokes that occurred in original movie. But now that there are reshoots, it seems that they are going back and attempting to add something more to lighten up the tone a little bit. Considering this was one of the major complaints about BVS, it is not surprising that Warner Bros. may or may not be doing this as a sort of response to the negative PR they have received.

Although, it seems likely that WB wants to see how Suicide Squad plays out before they begin making some intense changes to their tentpole franchises. Something that could be attributed to this news of massive reshoots could be the large amount of positive reactions the aforementioned trailer received, especially with the up-beat feeling the trailer gave us. This movie could be something special, and we’re absolutely hoping that these reshoots mean something great will come out in August. BVS has received way to much negative publicity, granted the tone may have been too dark, but maybe WB knows this and these reshoots are meant to spice up the tone and feel of the movie.

Regardless, can we all just be excited that we’re going to finally see the Joker and Harley on the silver screen!? Let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter @CinemaShelf
