Vixen Episode 1 Review

If you have no idea what I’m talking about and think its stupid to watch an animated series, think again. Vixen is a web series on CW Seed that shows a new hero in the CW DC Comics universe. This show is connected to and contains characters and voices from both Arrow and The Flash. If you’re not really looking to make a huge time commitment to a TV show, don’t worry! Each episode is only about 5 minutes long.

Watch Episode 1, then come back and finish reading!

In the first episode, we get to see Vixen in full force, fighting (and holding her own) against Green Arrow and The Flash. In the fight, we learn that her main power is the ability to summon some sort of spirit animals from her necklace. Immediately after the fight, Mari (main character who is also Vixen) wakes up in a jail cell three days prior. I assume that one of the last episodes of the show will be that first fight with Green Arrow and The Flash. Mari is bailed out of jail by her foster father and the episode ends with them being held at gunpoint by robbers. What will happen next? Will Vixen show her powers? Or Will Green Arrow and The Flash save the day?

I really like what CW is doing with this show. I think making short episodes and putting them online is a safe way to showcase the show without taking too much risk. The animation is done very well and the dialog/writing seems to be really good to. Perhaps this is because the episodes are only 5 minutes, making it very easy to produce a high quality product. I hope this show turns into its own live-action series just like Arrow and The Flash. It is very well possible as the woman who plays the voice of Vixen actually looks like the character and could most likely do a live-action series.

What do you think of the show? Do you want it to be made into a live-action series? What will happen to Mari and her dad at the beginning of episode 2?
