Why I’m Excited for Ant-Man

In America, tonight will be the first time that the general public will get to see Marvel’s newest installment in their cinematic universe, Ant-Man. The film is set to take place in San Francisco and takes place after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I’ve been waiting for this movie ever since they announced it. Here are some of the reasons why I’m pumped to watch this movie tonight.

Ant-Man has a great cast. The film stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Peña. I wouldn’t really consider any of them to be super mega movie stars on the level of RDJ, but their skills are more than sufficient to do well in this movie. If the trailers are any indication of how this movie should be, it should be really funny.

Marvel will be truly tested with special effects. The reason I make this point is that Ant-Man will need a TON of special effects as his main power is growing to the size of an ant. The team at Marvel will not only have to make the special effects look realistic but will also have to make Ant-Man interact with everyone else at normal size. If the special effects look cheesy, it will ruin the whole movie for me.

Will Ant-Man grow big in this movie? One thing that I have heard nothing about is whether or not Paul Rudd will grow in this movie in addition to being tiny. Just like in Guardians, I was hoping that Marvel Studios would show that Groot has the ability to grow again instantaneously by putting just a piece of wood in a pot. They showed that he can grow but it seems to occur at a slower rate. I would love for Marvel to not say anything the whole movie and let Paul Rudd’s character grow big for the climax of the movie.

There are 2 scenes after the movie is done. Unlike Avengers: Age of Ultron, this movie has an end-credits scene in addition to a mid-credits scene. These scenes have been some of the most enjoyable parts of these Marvel movies and start up so many conversations as to what is to come in the future.

Ant-Man will be in Captain America: Civil War. Marvel confirmed in May that we will see Paul Rudd with the rest of the new Avengers cast next May. Should be really fun to see the dynamic Ant-Man adds to the avengers.
